These placements are designed for students who have recently completed a relevant degree or those undertaking a required “year in industry” as part of their course — ready to turn their knowledge into real impact while growing alongside us.
This placement is subject to an enhanced DBS check (with Children’s Barred list)
Role: Matchday Media Assistant
Contract duration: 10-11 months
Type: Work Placement
Hours: 8 hours per matchday
Department: Media and Communications
Location: STōK Cae Ras, The Rock, Darland School
What you’ll be doing
Assist the media and communications department on a matchday for the men’s first team, women’s first team or Academy, across a range of roles.
Roles include: social media updates and posts, photography, photo editing, graphic design/editing, videography (including portrait video capture for social media), written match reports and quotes-led reaction pieces, website content, interviews, TV production, editing video and audio for content creation, match analytics and press/player liaison.
Collaborate with the media and marketing departments to assist with the management and fulfilment of the Club’s content calendar.
What are we looking for?
Beneficial to have:
Experience of covering live sport, particularly football
Provable work experience in similar roles, both covering live sport and interviews
A full driving license, and/or the ability to travel between different Club sites as required

The successful candidate will gain experience within a fast-growing football media environment, working with professional colleagues with years of sports media experience. The Wrexham AFC Media and Communications department has a strong history of helping students develop the skills for full-time jobs within the industry, with many former students and employees going on to earn full-time jobs either at Wrexham AFC or further afield – including Premier League clubs.
